>My brandywine tomatoes sprouted and so did one of my bell
peppers. I hope they make it, but if they don't it's ok,
they are mostly a science project for my oldest.
(We homeschool him.)

*Got a couple? Test a hothouse over one... 2 liter bottle
or milk jug. For tiny ones, there are some half circle
domes that fit on slurpee drinks, with a big hole.
How old is he? What's his hypotehsis/plan etc?

*Aluminun, specially coated, is used for optical situations,
mirrors, etc. But flat white plaster/paint is it's equal,
until the aluminun gets dirty. And the paint reflects a
scattered even light. Less shock danger.
Somewhere within the last 2-4 days, I read floesescent
lights are ok for a monthe, then the plant needs a real
grow light. But you were asking in regards of seed starting.
They need warmth. When the seeds come up, a regular
incandescent is mainly red. Itis spoken of as having a
'color' of 32oo degrees Kelvin. The sun is given a
'color' of 5600 (rarely, to 5800).
It's a measure of the quality of heat... which is a
"white hot"... ALL COLOR, spectrum. (White is a mix
of all colors.) 3200 is yellow, red, infrared, little
green or blue, comparatively. A standard florescent
is narrow band light, in a couple specific frequencies.
To grow, once past a germination stage, and thru sprout
stage, a florescent, OR a grow light/incandescent type
is good, leaving grow light florescent as very good,
and regular incandescent as pretty lacking. To grow
up from an advanced sprout stage, a standard florescent
is apparently ok for only a month. Still, some succed
longer. Now, there's a science project!

Decided to toss asparegus into the bareroot mix!

Say, I'd like to hear about that computerized timer...
a guy in England and I are trying to develope one.
The purpose is general, and hydroponics, and we're
going bare bones so ghetto folks or kids can have
one if they wish.
