We have a family of four and I usually plant about two 1x1 squares and get
plenty enough for us. You can harvest the beans and then a week or so late
pick another crop from the same plants. I do this several times before the
plants finally give out. I also like to make "successive plantings" so that
we always have fresh snap beans so I usually have at least 4 - 1x1 squares
with snap beans most of the growing season. I alternate between Blue Lake,
Kentucky Wonder Bush, Brittle Wax and the Burgundy (purple) Bush.
