Hi Annie,
No not silly. I went through the process a couple of times and it's
interesting.
The second year, i.e. this year, it will come up, but flower early on. Not
tasty and possibly not edible.
So the suggestion is to plant some more this year. Honestly I'm not sure
what the point is of having it the second year. I wasn't able to use it at
all. I had to dig it up.
If I grow parsley I treat it as an annual so I can plant more in that space
the next year.
Good luck. I'm sure there are other opinions--that's mine.
