Lisa- I was thinking that you must have gotten quite a few tomato worms with
a crop that size! Then again -if you are an organic gardener- maybe not.
When I was a kid we had a half acre garden and I hated picking the tomatoes
because I was always sticking my thumb into one of the oowwee gooeeeyy
fellers and getting worm all over me- and so last year this being my first
real year as a vegetable gardener(at the ripe old age of 42) I was sure I
would get some- worms- and hopefully tomatoes too. Well I had about 8 plants
and plenty of tomatoes but only 1 worm!(I don't know why!)My daughter loved
it when I showed it to her. I thought she would scream and run. But she got
so excited that she put it in an old aquarium, gave it green tomatoes and
leaves-, and with took it out and carried it around like we used to do with
caterpillars when we were kids and let the neighbors kids pet it.We had the
only pet tomato worm on the block That darned thing lived almost a month and
gave me the willies every time I looked at it- even tho it really was kind
of pretty.Go figure. Boy lady-you are something- I haven't canned since I
was a girl- don't even think I would remember how.- sounds like a beautiful
garden.-Did you ever make Picalilii or Chow Chow-? - they were relishes my
mom used to make with green tomatoes. -Teri
