I hesitate to get into thhis again, since Romas are my most unfavorite
fruit, but I downloaded some material, I believe from the above location
(the URL is correct, but I have been given two different ways of getting
there: from gopher://sulaco, etc. or from http://sulaco, etc.).  A disorder
called "gray wall" which may be caused by prolonged cloudy periods, excess
nitrogen, high soil moisture, potassium deficiency, soil compaction,
temperature fluctuations and./or tobacco mosaic virus.  There would be some
discoloration of the outer surface of the tomato if this is the problem.

Another possibility is alternaria decay during ripening, caused by low
temperatures.  Prolonged temps below 60, for instance can produce that
decay.  Perhaps if you could search under tomatoes, alternaria decay or
something like that, you could find an answer to your problem.  I would
look for you, but I can't  get onto the net.  Margaret
