In most parts of this country garlic is planted in the Fall for harvest the next summer, but where you are you may be able to plant and harvest in the same year (Spring to late Summer/Fall). Harvest should occur when the stems loose their green and their tops fall over. Garlic is planted from one clove which should grow into a bulb with many cloves, one of which you can plant next year (etc.) Good luck!
