On 1/4/98 PST, Holly asked,
>How do I figure out when to plant my tomatoe and pepper seeds? I'm in
Norwest Indiana. I plan to call the extension agent tomorrow and see when
the general last frost date is.
Today's mail brought me the Behnke's nursery newsletter. (Behnke's is the
primo nursery in the greater Washington, DC, area, in Beltsville and Largo,
MD.) The issue contained the following chart.
Get your last spring frost date from the county extension agent and count
backwards to know when to plant these common seeds:
Flowers
Impatiens 6-10 weeks
Petunias 7-9 weeks
Geraniums 10-12 weeks
Marigolds 5-7 weeks
Begonias 12-14 weeks
Coleus 6-8 weeks
Veggies
Tomatoes 5-7 weeks
Peppers 7-10 weeks
Eggplants 6-9 weeks
Cabbage 5-7 weeks
Broccoli 5-7 weeks
Cauliflower 4-8 weeks
