Holly,
You don't say where in NW Indiana but I grew up in La Porte, IN. The
last frost free date there was officially listed as May 10th. It's been
a while since I started my own plants but if I remember right you should
start your tomatoe seeds 6-8 weeks before you want to put them in the
garden. I'm not sure about pepper and eggplant but pepper seeds take
longer to germinate than tomatoe.
