I keep reading about how luscious the Donas are, but I haven't had much luck
with mine. I got them from Shepherd's Garden Seed, because Renee Shepherd
raved over them in a couple of articles prior to the (1990) publication of
her catalog. May have been a bad year for them, but others did better and
tasted wonderful.
I, too, enjoy an acidic tomato taste, and steer clear from the yellows or
'pinks' because they're reported to be lower acid. May be a mental thing.
I've tried Donas from a later year reorder and they did about the same. Mine
get thick skinned and extremely juicy with very little meat pulp. (Juicy =
watery).
Oh, I usually order a couple of packets of something or other from
Shepherd's because (now this is silly!) I love the cover of her catalog!!!
I have a collection of them framed in my kitchen, and they're well worth
the few dollars I spend on seed to stay current in her mailing list.
