I have a similar cat. Solution was to set up in the basement with
fluorescent lights. Cat is banned from basement. I don't think you
would be able to start seeds outside effectively. As for Jenny Lind, I
grew them a few years ago next to my garden fence. They climbed right
up it and were doing fine until the woodchucks broke into the garden.
