Re: Mourning the passing of this list

Square Foot Gardening List - http://myweb.flinet.com/~gallus/sqft.html

In regard to the post "Mourning the passing of a list" I have the
following observations I wish to make:

List have charters, this means posts that are on topic. I would much
rather join a list that adheres to the list charter and has fewer, high
quality posts, then one that allows chatter that generates traffic. Many
people who are very busy, several of them horticulture professionals or
semiprofessionals are on this list. Often I am amazed that they even
stay, due to the frequent off-topic nature of some posts. But they do
stay and tend to chime in when no one else is able to answer a question.

So before we lament a lull in list traffic, perhaps we should consider
how fortunate we are to have a list specific to the topic of Square Foot
Gardening. For those that desire "more", e-groups, listbot and others
are filled with gardening type lists and might very well quench the
thirst for more activity.

Personally, I'd rather have one post a month related to Square Foot
Gardening rather then 30 related to peripheral interests.

Very truly yours, Kevin(the fluffy bunny)Mathews
