Yes those are concrete blocks, the wood around one of my older 4x4 beds was
seriously deteriorating so I put the blocks around the perimeter to hold
everything in place. Before I put the blocks down I put weed fabric
underneath, I then just filled the block openings with good soil and planted
flowers. One word of caution, the plants require a lot more water than if
planted in the ground. I also have a block wall two courses high around my
patio which is level with the yard on the back side. I have planted many
things in those openings such as peppers, yellow squash and even
watermelons.

Charlie- Do I see cement blocks holding plants? That looks like a ingenious
way to grow things. I agree with Teri. Nice garden, fresh ideas. Keep up the
