Northeastern USA.
I was cuting down my 20*50 field of hairy vetch and buckwheat today and
found a squash plant volunteer a good 2ft high. It had been camoflaged in
the weeds, buckwheat and vetch. It appeared perfectly healthy so I left it
to see what happens. I guess that proves to me at least that the seeds can
survive the winter with no special protection.
