Hey you guys! I have a wonderful daughter Brandie who is 19-Brandie is mentally retarded as a result of a head injury she had in a car accident when she was 8. She is going into a supportive living situation with an attendant and we have been looking for an apartment for her. We were just about to put a deposit down on a place today and she suddenly said-" but Mom will the tomatoes get enough sun on the patio?" It was so cool- she goes out  to the garden everyday- sometimes she picks things before they are ready - but she has been so jazzed about this gardening thing- she wanders the moblile home park and begs compost material off of folks before they take it to the dumpster!  I made sure that the apartment that she will move into September 15 has a patio in full sun and with a border of soil around it.She has gotten so excited about gardening that she has convinced the folks at her day program to put a vegie garden in next year. We looked at the raised beds that are on the SQ foot site and also some that you all have submitted and they have submitted a proposal for funding - and gotten it- they are going to do square foot beds raised to chest level so that folks in wheelchairs can garden! Is that cool or what!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry I am so excited-but this is just so wonderful for me to see- My daughter  is magical person and she has definitely found her bailiwick!-Thanks to all!-Teri
