First Tomatos

Today I picked my first tomatoes. 3 all together. They were of the small
variety. I planted about 12 different varieties and didn't check which one
had the tomatoes but most were early variety. The tomatoes were about the
size of a golf ball, maybe bigger. Plants are loaded with green fruit. If
I can keep up with the watering, it should be a good season. Although, I
did plant "4th of July", I am pretty sure it wasn't that one which fruited.
Most of the others were heirloom varieties.

I have my tomato plants growing up a trellis spaced 1 foot apart. My
neighbor says that is way too close and that the plants would never grow up
the string. Last year, she was impressed that it worked. She on the other
hand has planted her tomatoes in a 3x3 area for each plant.
