Re: holes in my peppers

They may perk up and produce well later, Jim. In our area, they respond well to a foliar spray of 1 tsp. Epsom Salts to 1 pint of water, sprayed in the cool of the morning or evening if the leaves are not deep green to start with. As for the holes...I've had those in the past, and the only critters I've found responsible has been earwigs. They'll set up housekeeping inside a pepper, come and go, and lay eggs, etc. I don't know what you can do about it except use a repellant like Garlic Barrier or Hot Pepper Wax . I cut off damaged portions and use the peppers anyway, but the darned earwigs may mess up part of the inside too. Margaret L

I am getting a poor crop of peppers this year. Some of
the plants have
peppers about 2 inches from side to side and some of
the plants have no
fruit at all. That I might live with thinking the pollination
was not
good enough but I also have some critter eating small
holes in the
peppers. They are bell peppers and the holes are about
1/8 inch in size.
My question is what should I do about it? Last year I
opened a couple of
punctured peppers and found nothing. My second
question is can I consider
such peppers safe to eat if I find nothing inside?
