It is my understanding that peas prefer cooler weather which is why they are
a spring and fall veggie..
I did peas this year but because of the dreadful spring we had in downstate
NY I had a very poor crop...I gave them up last week because the weather
turned so hot the peas just refused to set fruit.
I don't know the exact spacing but they do grow up so I imagine you wouldn't
need much room at all for a good crop provided the weather cooperates...I'm
going to try again in August for a fall crop..Hope I have better
weather...Nothing like fresh picked peas eaten out of hand.
