This spring I wanted to expand my SFG with some 4x24' beds. I was looking at using the rough edge cinder blocks but it would have gotten expensive to make 3 4'x24' beds and 2 4'x36' beds. Well I put the plans on hold till after first frost and the solution fell in my lap. Some friends had taken down a barn to use the wood in new bldg and the project fell through. They asked if I wanted the wood and of course I jemped at the chance. There is more than enough wood for me to make the beds I need. Some of it is true 2"x8", 4"x6", 6"x6" and 6"x8". I could either use the 2"x or the 6" and make all the beds I could handle. In short, if you are looking for framing material for beds, look around your community for old barns looking to fall down or be taken down. One barn could put you in the market garden business!! Now how do I get my hands on free drip irrigation equipment?
