That was enlightening! I've never thought about bumblebees being 'infants',
guess I always thought of them hatching out full size. With the decline in
the honey bee population, we might all benefit by taking more notes on the
habits of these bigger bumblers. I HAVE noticed our nasty Jimson weeds in
the pastures being visited a lot by bumblebees, and honeybees usually avoid
them.
Stupid question of the day: If bumblebees gather pollen like honeybees,
what do they do with it? How do they utilize it, I should ask.
The Other Martha, (who only knows male and female squashes, so any statement
about vegetable sex life would seem correct to me!)
