I saw Mel at the Maymont Flower and Garden Show in Richmond, VA in 1997, and he was giving the 1/3 each of compost, vermiculite, and peat moss formula there.

Hi all!
I'm new to square foot gardening and was wondering about the formula for
good soil. My question is, do I use Mel's original formula in the book or
his updated version of 1/3 each of compost, vermiculite, and peat moss? I
read about the updated formula on a message board that came from a printed
update from Mel.
Thanks!
