All of a sudden, my Hosta garden is being riddled by something. AtSnails! I have a new one this year that I love and they have been picking on it unmercifully. I have tried encouraging birds and racoons and anything else that will handle slugs in our damp climate and have resorted to getting out there first thing in the morning with my bucket of soapy water, particularly on damper days. I have tried everthing else on slugs and snails with no satisfactory success.
first I thought it was slugs but upon closer inspection, I don't
believe it is. The plants are not eaten in a pattern that slugs
normally produce. These plants look like they have been hit with a
shotgun blast. (many small to medium sized holes every where)Any suggestion on what could be doing it? Suggested treatment? I have
never seen Hostas attacked by anything other than slugs before.
