Re: Shade & Front Yard Veggies

Doreen, I have done veggies all around my yard - not for lack of sun
elsewhere, just because.

I have found some plants make wonderful, decorative borders, like herbs
(parsley - which I let overwinter and flower the next year). I am
thinking of trying carrots and beets too. The greens would be nice and
you pick them before the foliage gets ratty (one reason I wouldn't use
onion or garlic). Also cilantro.

I also find peppers to be nice, compact bush type plants (I also have an
over abundance this year) so I have a number in my front bed. The
flowers and fruits are decorative. Chard and other greens (lettuces,
spinach, arugula, etc.) are nice, colorful, neat plants. Many herbs are
also beautiful plants - lavender, sage, thyme.

Good luck in your new "digs"!!
