I have planted the borders on either side of my y walkway leading up to the
front door with squash, blue lake beans, scarlet runner beans, and corn.
Scattered amongst this is some volunteer California poppies and a few viola.
It looks really neat, if I do say so myself. I planted everything late,
because I just couldn't decide exactly what I wanted to do, so it isn't very
tall corn and the squash is just starting to flower, but it still looks
great. I will definitely do this again next year. Since we use the back door
I don't worry about it getting damaged (the postman is really the only one
who uses the walk). Heck, I may just do more next year with veggies in the
front yard! My back is a bit shady and my veggies grow, but they don't
thrive (except tomatoes and greens).
