Anything air tight should do. Remember to add a dessicant such as
a packet of powdered milk or just save all the packets of silica get that
come with anything electronic and keep them in the jar.

I have raised beds and just nailed in galvanized nails every foot. During
planting I wrap some string around the nails and back and forth across
the beds, makes it easy to be precise in planting. Once the plants come
up I wrap up the string and put it away, The unique appearance of the
plants makes the squares very obvious once they come up, (or
transplanted). Some people have mentioned (apparently Mel
included) that using slats from plastic mini blinds made into a grid
that they can lay down (and perhaps leave down) in the garden
works well and resists the weather.

My lawn still exists around my raised beds, I just mow right up to
them. Only thing I did not do. the space between my beds is
regretably a few inches narrower then my mower. If I was to do it
again, I would have left a few inches wider then the mower. One
of these days I will put pavers down between the beds, someday.
I have a hexagonal strawberry bed around a tree, rather then worry
about runners, I mow over anything the sprawls out into the yard.
