And what's wrong with parallelograms. The way to tell if a bed is
square is to measure the diagonals. The closer to square it is, the
closer the two diagonals will be in length. Personally, I'd go with
the p-grams.
One way to make raised beds is to shovel the dirt from the paths
into the beds. This lowers the paths, making them more
noticeable and raises the beds. Once you have done this, it will be
easier to recognize the beds (soft fluffy dirt) vs. the paths
(compacted dirt).
A good, cheap source of weed prevention is the newspaper. If you
don't like the look cover it with mulch (shredded leaves will do).
