I have had this every year since I began growing corn 18 years ago. It never
seems to do any harm to the corn which is very sweet and aphids like sweet.
It also gives the population of lady bugs a cafe where dinner is only a bite
away.
The ants bring the aphids (aphids are ants cows! neat huh?) do nothing to
hurt this nice natural occurance and your ladybug crop will grow and grow. I
haven't had to spray insecticidle soap in 2 years now. Lady bugs and lace
wings, hover flies and tachinid flies and many other benificial insects are
here feasting on the easy food. smitty
