Hi elizabeth,
Sounds like when your onions went to seed they took bulb forming strength
from the onion to set seed. Or! you have top onions, walking onions,
eygyption top onions, etc. I grow theses for green onions in early spring by
planting the topsets deeply in the fall. these are perennial to boot too.
excellent sqft garden onion you can plant them 2" apart in a 12" block 36
green onions come spring.
