Wm. Weaver says ''The fruit is round, or should be, and white skinned, with
bright yellow streaks. Fruit is harvested when 2 1/2 or 3 inches in
diameter. Paring is unnecessary because the skin is thin and lack all
trace of bitterness.''
The folks at FEDCO, a Maine USA seed cooperative, say ''Color evolves from
pale greenish yellow <immature> to lemon yellow <best eating stage> to
golden yellow <full maturity and seed production>.''
I've gotta start harvesting mine earlier and smaller. Like most cucumbers
the seed cavity gets big, and while the skin doesn't get bitter, it gets
thick. I've got too many golden globes on the vines now.
