Square Foot Gardening List - http://www.flinet.com/~gallus/sqft.html
Hi everyone....
I am harvesting here in New England, and overall, my first sqft
garden is a success.
A couple of problems I happen to be having..... my peppers in one
plot don't seem to be producing very well. They are in the same plot
as some squash, and that's the only thing i can think of that is a
problem. I did plant things quite closely, but the peppers that are
surrounded by tomatoes and eggplant seem to be fine, so I don't think
it's a crowding issue? Anyway, my question is, these peppers that
aren't producing, I wanted to transplant and maybe get them to
produce. Will this just kill them this late in the season?
The rest of the garden seems to be thriving. I am pulling toms and
cukes and peppers and hot peppers and broccoli and ...well, just
about everything! I also have a couple of cantelope and a couple of
watermelon. I don't think I can give too much advice about the
melons, this is the first year i have tried them. I did plant my
melons in the bed next to my corn, just so that they could trail
through the corn and not be a problem. I haven't had any problem with
them yet, but I don't know if it will get to be that way before the
season is out. I planted my first crop of green beans in the same
plot with the melons, so now they are out of there and the melons
have more space as they grow.
Has anyone else grown lemon cukes? I planted a whole plot of them
(well, I didn't realize I had until they were EVERYWHERE) and they
are supposed to be great for pickles. But I am not sure how to tell
when they are ripe. Any ideas?
And can anyone tell me what kind of yield I will get from an okra
plant? I only have 3, and they aren't sure if they are goign to
cooperate or not .....
Thanks for the help!
Missi
