Re: Eggplant ants

Square Foot Gardening List - http://www.flinet.com/~gallus/sqft.html

Hi Laura,
I don't think the ants will cause you any problems. They don't seem to feed
on the plants in the garden. (I'm not sure what they feed on). But the
aphids can cause some damage. The best offense against aphids is ladybugs.
Or a good insecticidal soap. This also works on most softbodied insects,
caterpillars etc. I have even used a very weak solution of an organic
detergent with excellent results. Hope this helps.
This year we have several toads that have moved into the garden. They are
doing a great job on the bugs!!! Does anyone know where I can find a toad
house?? I saw one in a catalog years ago and never needed one. Now it might
be a good idea!
Cathy
