Hi Jeff,

Thanks for your report, you know one thing to consider, with the size of
your plot and the relative water requirement of your plants I would think it
would be fairly inexpensive to water them especially if the alternative was
having them die. I can't locate Mel's book at the moment but if I recall
some of these plants would require no more than a cup or two a week to
survive. Maybe someone would post the water needs of various plants
according to Mel.

P.S. Here in N.E. Tennessee I know my garden wouldn't have made it the last
couple without supplemental watering.

The plot is approximately 15' x 5' with a walk way through
the middle.

This is my third year square foot
gardening with last year being a failure due to the dry weather

 I believe the biggest obstacle this year
will again be the weather but maybe I'll be fortunate enough to be in the
path of enough summer showers to keep my garden lively.
