Yup, that's me (Northern Monterey County). I should have figured out
the water requirement (after all, the worms have to be able to
wiggle). My procedure preparing the two beds I have now was to dig
everything out, mix new soil, and fill the hole back up. Pretty hard
work, and only possible when the ground has a fair amount of water in
it. So, I'm open to any "cheats."
I'll try the manure thing someplace and see how it goes. Thanks.
