Corn LIKES to be a little crowded as it depends on wind and
gravity for pollination to get good ears. When mine is near
pollination time I give it a shake each time I pass by if it is not
windy. One row at 1per foot would not get good pollination
therefore inferior ears with missing kernels/seeds.
