Tracie,
I usually just cut off the bottom of the plastic soda bottle (about
3") and use the top portion as the plant "house". If you take off
the lid of the bottle it will provide a bit of air circulation.
In order to keep the little houses stable in windy weather, you may
wish to cut tabs from the bottom instead of cutting it away
altogether. This way you can anchor the tabs into the soil with
U-pins or nails, etc., and the little house will be stabilized over
the plant regardless of the wind.
