Hello All,
My tomatoes are diseased again this year. We had a nice warm Spring, but
over the last few weeks it's been very rainy and cool (55-70 F), and the
tomatoes sort of stopped growing. Anyway, several of them now have a
disease that looks like either verticillium or fusarium wilt, but when I
took a cross-section of a diseased branch, there was no streaking in the
vascular tissues. What could be the cause of this? What can I do about
it? The varieties are Dona and Park's Whopper, which I bought specifically
because of their disease resistance.
On a different subject, I had an aphid infestation for a few weeks that I
tried to control with the hose blast trick, to no avail. So I got some Eco
Oil from Gardens Alive, which, from its description, sounds something like
liquefied vaseline, and applied it. Instant death to the aphids! 'Twas
quite gratifying, and there's been no sign of them since.
Can't wait to hear from you experts regarding the tomatoes...
