Hi Janet,
I say go for it if you can afford to lose a plant. Depending on your
climate, rainwater may not be a factor (here in So. Cal. the amt.
of rain I would get would not factor in to the experiment!). I'd do
it, but my garden is small, and my tomatoes are only 1 inch tall, so
I don't want to risk anything right now. Club soda might be expensive,
though. Might be a cheaper way with bulk bicarb or something...
