Sorry I didn't note the person's e-mail return address before hitting the
Reply key. This is a fascinating possible discovery. I say "possible" only
because controlling the whole growth scenario so that only one variable--how
much oxygen in in the water one applies to one's plants--would be virtually
impossible outside a laboratory setting. Nevertheless, the idea of aeration
stimulating growth and therefore letting us all, perhaps, use less
fertilizers holds a great deal of appeal.
We are used to thinking of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium being the
important chemicals for photosynthesis, rooting, bloom encouragement, fruit
setting and so forth. Wouldn't it be fabulous if just ratcheting up the
amount of oxygen that plants take in via water can achieve some of the same
enhanced results? (I haven't forgotten about the trace elements in air
besides oxygen, but they're just that--traces--so I tend to think it's got
to be the O making the difference.)
Do let's hear more about this experiment.
