My husband, who is a hunter, says that there really is something
in the poo that is detected by animals. They can determine if the
animal is vegetarian (harmless) or carnivor (preditor). This is
one way that wolves and coyotes mark their teritories. Who knew? :-)
Also, wolves and coyotes won't poo in their hunting grounds so as
not to scare of lunch!
