Strawberries

Square Foot Gardening List - http://www.flinet.com/~gallus/sqft.html

Hi everyone:

I can only sort of answer this one. I went to my extension office to
get information on strawberries and they had a bunch of FREE info to
give. I would suggest going to your extension office and getting
anything you can, because there are some tricks to growing
strawberries successfully. I believe the runners are called
daughters and not all should be allowed to grow. The first year you
shouldn't even let the mother plants fruit, because they need to get
their root systems established. It is in the following year that
your labors will produce beautiful fruits. Also it is in the second
year that you let the "daughters" grow, and again only certain ones.
I have the information - somewhere? - if you can't get anything
from your extension office let me know. Hope this helps...
