Square Foot Gardening List - http://www.flinet.com/~gallus/sqft.html
Hello...
I discovered Mel's Book. Read it approximately 10-11 times - getting
more enthusiastic each time. Then discovered "The List" and decided to
just be a virtual gardener for a while. I think I freaked out, wanting
to do everything just so, you know?
The thing is, my lack of experience is compounded by my only available
garden location: on the roof of an urban warehouse.
Finally, I just did it. Hauled all the soil, peat, etc. up and set up
one 4'x 6' box. Everything was going along quite well. Except only
1/16 pole beans came up and 3/9 bush beans didn't. After waiting
patiently I finally dug around and discovered that all the failed seeds
were rotten and at least one of them had a tiny slimy worm living in
it.
I'm pre-sprouting a new batch of seeds but am still wondering why this
happened? Too much water (wouldn't be surprised - I might be
overcompensating because the roof is pretty hot)?
Thanks for any help---
