I've never been able to quantify the cost of washing the permanent filter
and the loss of some of the grounds, but I admit to caving in to convenience
by using the paper ones, since it is a quick dump in the compostables
container and away we go...
Ideally one would rinse the permanent filter into a graywater system for use
in the yard /garden/ compost pile, and I do this with pot likker and first
rinse of the permanent yogourt container, but, as I said, have caved in on
the paper filters....
Frank---doesn't want to get into the whole coffee question, what with the
price of fairtraded organic coffee, but he does drink it sometimes....
