Square Foot Gardening List - http://www.flinet.com/~gallus/sqft.html
I have a 'thing' I bought from Smith & Hawken about 10 years ago. It was
touted as a Japanese hand hoe but I don't know what it's called today.
It's only about 18" long, has a triangle hoe head on it. the left point is
a little longer than the right one and it's SHARP. The bend in the neck is
just right to get under the soil line a little and nick the weeds off below
the surface like a skuffle hoe, stirrup hoe.
I think they may make them for left handed folk also (changing the sides so
the 'near' one is the short one.) I've had folk try to weld duplicates to
my hand hoe but they never get the angle right and theirs don't ever work
as good. (Kind of a swan neck). I think I paid $7.95 for mine.) my only
gripe is when I go to the master composter work days, everyone wants one!
These are perfect for small beds and square foot gardening.
