Square Foot Gardening List - http://www.flinet.com/~gallus/sqft.html
I planted Imperial Star artichoke seeds along with the tomato and pepper
seeds last March and raised them under lights. (Thanks to all the people
who gave advice!) The plants had to receive 200 hours of temps between
34-40F in order to set buds in the first season--the instructions on the Web
said. So I did all that and then set out the plants in the garden about
mid-April. I have artichokes!!!!!! Every plant is sprouting a big one in
the center, and now I can see smaller ones forming further down the main
stalk! This is way cool!! Artichokes in one season! I love them and found
them impossible to raise in Texas because of the heat. The buds formed
about 70 days after setting out the transplants, which means just about any
gardener anywhere can grow them. It won't be long, and I'll be steaming a
batch and dipping them into olive oil and balsamic vinegar.
