The ichiban are ready to eat. I believe the length is about 6 to 8 inches,
and the diameter is usually about 1.5". I love these small eggplants; you
don't have to peel them, just slice and sautee (or whatever). This year
all I planted were this long small variety - ping tung long, ichiban, and
midget. Unfortunately I planted them late and they have just started
flowering. I can't wait.
