>If anything, I find any increased heat seems to help.
>This is something though I will need to come up to speed on this year.
>Anybody else have any direct experience here?
How hot do green houses get?
What I would really like is one magic number.
***80F on a sunny day, 1 fiberglass glazing panel,
no fancy 2 layer stuff,
with snow around, but a fair structure.
>Don't let it get hotter than X. I doubt there is a
single good number X for everthing, but I would
appreciate any feedback.
Ron Souliere
***Ron, my direct experience is varied and limited,
but think pod a car on a sunny day... then a "window-van,"
aka - "Solar Trap."
***I forget... you're in Zone 5-6? But I'd need to
look up your % of sunny days etc.
***Anyway,, greenhouses get "way hot!" We are literally talking, "homemade
solar pizza oven here!" Pheonix does,
130F w/o a greenhouse, so this is very "local,"
but has SOOO much to do with sealing, and a Jeff Ball
hoop special will not have this, and is sectionally
designed to combat it. But it is a manual design,
so each moring you have to open it up. Guess wrong
and many "crops" will die that day.
***Magic Numbers.. Upper only, right? Ok, Tomato,
blossom drop above 85-ish. Lettuce, can JUST tolerate
75 max! Hard to mix some of these, but it can be done with thinking and
position in the plot, shade-wise. TRY to
segregate to the degree you can.
***As for soil, less a worry, but <90 for tomatoes and
squash, 70-80 most, <70 for special stuff. I needs
a crop list to look it up. I have some data for Fans,
amount of air needed to be moved per sqw ft of greenhouse,
but this begins to be OT and would be better handled
at ColdGH List.
I can't see a "short" way to relate this data.
Lowest "High," I see, is 75
Celery, endive , lettuce, spinach.
They have a 70 or 75 optimum, and you will want some
margin for ewrror. <LOL>
I will "Excel" these and post or mail, asap.
