sqare foot gardeners in New Jersey

I read Square Foot Gardening over the winter.  I will be building raised 
beds this month.  I am excited about this system.  Are there any gardeners 
out there who live in Jersey or surrounding area who have had success with 
this system?  If so, what crops do well.  Which ones should I avoid?
