>Instead of shade cloth (not available the day I needed to build the
things) I used window screen and 1"x2" wood for boxes that fit over one or
two squares. I then transplanted the seedlings directly in the garden, and
left the shade cage over them until my next visit
*I do forget now and then.
The skinny bamboo staks 3' long, like a 12 pack for $2???
2-3 woven thru a double wide piece of newspaper, at a 45 degree angle, on one
side, just for shade, is what I usually use, or an extra screen door, for long
term. Screen now is usually fiberglass, and really lasts, and is sorta light.
Its probably 25-50% shade, more than it seems. Some folks use lathe. The
sun moves, the shadow too. Can get it in prety sheets too. But costs.
Newspaper lasts a week. That's good.

Aside on lights... It depends how you measure. Apples and orages.
Music watts on 400 watt speakers... RMS (actual power, 'root mean square')
watts may be 20. The standard for 'music' changed about 4 times. Apples to
apples. Proportion is a good efficiency gauge. Ballast is a part of a
florescent system. Incandescents don't have this. My numbers stand. Theirs
too.
