Normally, in the Northern Hemisphere, we put the vining crops on the
*north* side, so that they don't cast shadows on the other squares.

What I suggest is that you plant the taller or faster growing crops on the
north side, and the slower or shorter crops in the next row of squares, to
the south of the first row.
