Other than it will likely let some moisture through when it rains. But since you don't get enough rains to make blight a serious problem it probably doesn't matter. You sound like you're in a fairly exposed site. Definitely go for the extra reinforcing and I hope you don't get any tornados! Our hoophouses have survived many a summer thunderstorm's blasts though, so you should be okay there.
