My mother has used this book for years and her garden is just wonderful! I already know, having found out the hard way, not to plant things like onions or garlic with your tomatoes because they will flavor them unpleasantly. This year I'm planting with the spacing suggested by Mel but I'm arranging the plants according to what the other book says they will grow well with. On a slightly skewed topic, I've always planted under a full moon or according to when the Farmer's almanac says they should be planted. I'm not quite sure why, but I get better results that way.
